New Believers Corner

Welcome to the Christian Faith

If you're just beginning to learn about Jesus or have recently placed your faith in Him, we're genuinely glad you're here. We know that taking your first steps in the Christian faith can bring excitement, questions, and sometimes uncertainty. You don't have to have everything figured out, and you don't have to walk this journey alone. At Doxa Ministries, our desire is to walk alongside you, point you to God's Word, and help you grow in your understanding of who God is and what He has done through Jesus Christ. We pray this page gives you a place to begin, encouragement along the way, and a foundation to keep growing in His grace.

What Is the Gospel, and Why Is It Important?

The gospel is good news: though all of us have sinned and fall short of God's holiness, God loved us enough to send His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross in our place. Three days later, Jesus rose from the dead, defeating sin and death forever. Salvation is not earned by our efforts but received as a gift of grace through faith. The gospel calls us to repent—to turn from sin—and to believe in Jesus as Lord and Savior, trusting Him alone for forgiveness and new life.

Who Is God?

God is the eternal, self-existent, holy, and sovereign Creator and sustainer of all things. He has no beginning or end, depends on nothing outside Himself, and possesses all power, knowledge, and authority. There is one true God who eternally exists in three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. God is perfect in holiness, righteousness, justice, love, mercy, and faithfulness. He is not merely a higher power or distant creator, but a personal God who has revealed Himself through His creation, His inspired Word, and most fully through His Son, Jesus Christ. He alone is worthy of all worship, obedience, honor, and glory.

What Does It Mean to Follow Jesus?

Following Jesus means surrendering your life to Him as Lord and Savior, turning away from sin, and seeking to live in obedience to His Word. It is more than simply believing He exists; it is trusting in who He is, what He has done, and submitting your life to His authority. As His disciples, we are called to deny ourselves, pursue holiness, love others, and grow in Christlikeness. This is a lifelong journey of faith, dependence on God's grace, and obedience to Christ—not a pursuit of perfection, but a life continually devoted to Him.

The Importance of the Church

The church is an essential part of God's design for the Christian life. God has not called believers to live out their faith in isolation, but to grow together as the body of Christ. Through the local church, we gather to worship, learn God's Word, encourage one another, serve, and grow in faith. Christians are called to faithfully participate in the life of the church, using their gifts to build up other believers and bring glory to God.

A Place to Begin

Wherever you are in your walk with Christ, there are practical steps you can take to continue growing in your faith. Begin by reading one of the Gospels, such as John, to learn more about the life, teaching, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Develop a habit of prayer, bringing your needs, questions, and concerns before God. Find a faithful local church where you can worship, learn God's Word, and grow alongside other believers. You can also explore our Bible Study Guides and Prayer Requests pages for additional resources and encouragement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Biblical answers for the beginning of your walk with Christ

Our assurance of salvation rests not in our feelings, good works, or ability to live perfectly, but in the finished work and promises of Jesus Christ. Those who genuinely repent and place their faith in Christ are saved by God's grace. Scripture teaches that genuine faith produces a growing desire to obey God, turn from sin, and become more like Christ. If you have placed your trust in Jesus, look to His promises, examine the fruit of your faith, and remember that your salvation rests in Him, not in your own perfection.

Salvation is God's gracious work of rescuing sinners from sin, death, and His righteous judgment through Jesus Christ. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus paid the penalty for sin and secured eternal life for all who repent and place their faith in Him. Salvation is not earned through good works or personal merit, but is received by God's grace through faith in Christ alone. Those who are saved are forgiven, reconciled to God, and given new life in Him.

Every Christian struggles with sin, but we must never accept it or make peace with it. Scripture calls us to turn from sin, pursue holiness, and walk in obedience to God. When you stumble, confess your sin, repent, and remember that forgiveness and cleansing are found in Jesus Christ. God's grace is not an excuse to continue in sin, but the foundation for a life devoted to Him.

Sin is any thought, word, action, or desire that violates God's holy character and commands. It is rebellion against God, rooted in the rejection of His authority, and brings guilt, condemnation, and separation from Him. Every person is sinful and stands guilty before a holy and righteous God, deserving His judgment. Yet God, in His grace and mercy, sent Jesus Christ to bear the penalty of sin through His death and secure victory over sin and death through His resurrection. Through repentance and faith in Christ alone, sinners can receive forgiveness, be reconciled to God, and have eternal life.

We recommend the English Standard Version (ESV) as a clear and faithful translation well suited to careful Bible reading and study.

Believers are called to gather together in the life of a local church—for worship, teaching, communion, and prayer. In this shared life we find fellowship, encouragement, and accountability, and we discover opportunities to serve one another with our gifts. Church is not optional scaffolding around faith but part of how God designed us to grow.
